Softball Team Undefeated, Headed to STATE

The Oriole softball team won their regional tournament Tuesday, May 15, in Circle. They had beaten El Dorado in their first regional matchup Monday, then defeated Circle and Hesston Tuesday to earn the regional title. Oriole Drumline Rocks the House

The Augusta High School Drumline advanced to the final round of the 2013 Wichita Wild Drumline competition after defeating El Dorado High School at halftime of the Wichita Wild Indoor Football game on Saturday, May 11. Peace Day at Lincoln

Lincoln students created a formation that spelled "Peace Day" in recognition of peace efforts such as World Peace Day. Counselor Tonie Apel organized the event and conducted lessons during classroom guidance time. Elementary counselors are teaching from the Peace Builder curriculum this year.

Brand New Library

The library at the new Garfield Elementary is a beautiful, large, open area between the upper-grade hallway and the lower-grade hallway.

Relay Recess Preparation

In preparation for Relay Recess, Robinson students raised money for cancer research. One of their fundraising projects was focused on bringing dimes to fill water bottles. Robinson staff and students, dressed in color-coded (by grade) t-shirts, got together for this portrait by local photographer Brandi Coldwell earlier this fall. The portrait was used as a fundraiser for the Robinson PTO. The organization is selling the picture in different sizes as a fundraiser. Coldwell is also a member of the Robinson PTO.

Dancing at Pep Rally

Future Pep Band Hopefuls

Delicious Geometry!

Elementary teachers across the district use hands-on activities to make math lessons fun and effective. Here, Lincoln first graders created shapes using sticks and marshmallows. They worked together in groups to choose a shape and come up with a method for making it.

Mommy-Son Mash

The Robinson PTO hosted a mother-son dance on Friday night, October 19. It was well attended, and the mothers and sons reported having a great time. Ron Reavis was the DJ, and the Mommy-son Mash, as the dance was called, was a big hit.

Art Students Study Culture

New Bluejay Gymnasium

P.E. classes started using the new gym November 6 so that the old gym's floor can be refinished. Gym floors are usually refinished during the summer, but the AMS gym was full of boxes from all the classrooms so that the classrooms could receive their renovation this past summer.

Oriole Baseball Strong in League

Oriole Baseball is chasing the league AVCTL championship! As of April 25, the varsity record was 10-4, and a win against Andale on the 29th would clinch the deal. Hillier Stadium

Named after long-time athletics director Armand Hillier, Hillier Stadium received an upgrade of artificial turf over the summer of 2011. Varsity football and soccer games were held on the new turf during the Fall 2011 season. This photo was taken by former Oriole teacher and wrestling coach Terry Alley.

Celebrating Seuss's Birthday

Garfield staff dressed up as characters from Seuss stories and performed a skit for the student body as part of the school's celebration of Dr. Seuss's birthday. The beloved children's author's birthday provides a great opportunity each year for an engaging way to focus on the fun of reading.

Chemistry Magic Amazes Students

Robinson 5th graders are transfixed during a "magic show" performed by AHS chemistry students. This show is a yearly occurrence for AHS chemistry students and local elementary audiences.

Top-notch Marching Band

Boxtop Collection Has Perks

Paula Keefer's fourth grade class at Ewalt enjoyed a rare break to watch a movie for being the class that brought the most cereal boxtops in the Ewalt PTO boxtop fundraising drive. Keefer said her students were excited with this first class "win" in the friendly competition.

Augusta Junior High c. 1938

This stone inlay marked the main entrance to the one-building Augusta Junior High. Built in 1938, it was located north of the Augusta High School on State Street. In 1970 when the new high school was built, the old high school building became part of the Augusta Junior High complex joining the 1938 Augusta Junior High building and the Manual Arts building located in between.
